YY obtained his Bachelor of International Business degree from Macquarie University (Sydney, Australia) in 2009, and a Master of Business in Marketing from the University of Technology in Sydney in 2011. He also obtained an executive degree in Business Analytics & Big Data from the Harvard Business School in 2016. In 2019, he was recognised as a certified HRDF trainer.

YY started his career at Senheng Electric (KL) Sdn Bhd, Malaysia's largest consumer electrical retail store, as the Head of Marketing where he was mainly responsible for corporate marketing and branding of the company. He was then redesignated to be the Head of Merchandising, where he was mainly responsible for the sourcing and management of products, including market forecasting, margins and stock flow, and sales. After that he was redesignated to become the Head of Customer Loyalty & Big Data, where he was mainly responsible for customer loyalty programmes, data integration, and analytics. His most recent prior position was the Head of Training and Development where he was fully responsible at improving the job performance of employees through systematic and high-impact methods. Concurrently during his tenure as the Head of Training and Development, he was also the Head of Recruitment where he was mainly responsible for the identification and recruitment strategies of talents into the company.

YY also served as the Executive Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer of Petsmore Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s largest pets’ retail store which carries a large variety of domestic pet goods including consumables and household. Petsmore Sdn Bhd also provides grooming services and pet boarding services throughout their outlets.

YY currently serves as Chief Operating Officer at SH Retail Academy Sdn Bhd, a training academy specialised in creating and conducting programs with emphasis to the retail industry. SH Retail Academy Sdn Bhd was founded in September 2019 inspired by the intention of Mr Lim Kim Heng, Managing Director of Senheng Electric (KL) Sdn Bhd, to support Malaysian SMEs especially in the retail industry to grow by increasing productivity through digitalisation and upskilling of employees.

YY currently sits on the board of Purple League (M) Sdn Bhd, the organiser of Malaysia's first professional badminton league, with the world's top players and participation of more than 15 countries, and which is broadcasted in more than 10 countries. The league is sanctioned by the Badminton Association of Malaysia and the Badminton World Federation. The league is supported by the Youth and Sports Ministry of Malaysia.

YY currently sits on the board of Genesis Resources Ltd, a public-listed company on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX:GES) engaged in the exploration and extraction of precious mineral reserves through cost efficient exploration and joint venture of mining development of gold, manganese, and base metals.
